BodyTite Q & A

What is BodyTite?

Many people find that diet and exercise alone aren't enough to remove all stubborn areas of fat. Frustrating trouble spots can remain, even after successful completion of a weight-loss program.

Body contouring procedures are designed to eliminate these trouble spots through targeted fat removal. BodyTite procedures also work to tighten your skin to correct any looseness or sagging.

How does BodyTite work?

BodyTite uses radiofrequency technology to direct heat below the surface of the skin and melt the underlying fat cells. BodyTite procedures also tighten up the skin to provide a firm, consistent appearance.

BodyTite technology is carefully calibrated to target only fat cells. The surface of your skin and other tissues are unharmed during a BodyTite procedure. The procedure is minimally invasive. It provides results similar to surgical fat removal procedures, but without typical surgical risks.

What happens during a BodyTite procedure?

No need to worry about hospitalization or inpatient procedures: You can receive your BodyTite procedure right in Dr. Sodoma’s office. Procedure time may vary depending on the size of the area your BodyTite procedure will address. Most procedures take between one to three hours.

Dr. Sodoma provides a local anesthetic to number the area before making a small incision to insert a thin tube called a cannula. An external electrode delivers targeted heat to melt the fat cells, while the cannula removes the liquefied fat tissue.

After your procedure is complete, you can return home. Most patients are able to safely resume their normal activities shortly after their procedure. Dr. Sodoma will provide detailed instructions about when it's safe to resume workouts or other vigorous physical activities.

What are the advantages of a BodyTite procedure?

Traditional surgical fat-removal procedures are often very invasive. Patients may sometimes be kept overnight at a hospital or placed under general anesthesia. Invasive surgical procedures sometimes have a lengthy recovery time or leave behind large scars.

Because BodyTite procedures involve only a tiny incision, there is usually little or no scarring. In most cases, you won't even need stitches to close the incision site. A smaller incision site means a lower risk of infection or other complications.

BodyTite procedures also provide skin tightening to ensure that the fat-removal procedure doesn't leave behind unsightly loose or drooping skin. You can expect your skin to look tighter, firmer, and more contoured after a BodyTite procedure.
